thoughts on maniaq ?

I think they have a lot of cute things, but they’re a Fairy Kei shop, not a Lolita shop. They do have things that will work for Sweet Lolita, but not everything.

What is the difference between fairy kei, sweet lolita, and decora? Thanks!!

They are all actually very different. Checking the Fairy Kei tag would tell you the difference between Fairy Kei and Sweet Lolita. Decora is another style (that actually isn’t all that popular anymore) that is completely separate. Decora is short for “decoration” which tells you that it’s focused on accessories things you can add to make the outfit more interesting. It’s very bold and loud and includes a lot of layering, especially of cute accessories.

I'm a sweet lolita who wants to dabble into fairy kei. Bodyline has some cute skirts that are too short for lolita but might work well for fairy kei, and maybe their petticoats? Recommendations on bodyline for fairy kei? Thanks in advance.

That is actually one of the very few things that Bodyline’s petticoats are good for. The colorful ones make great skirts for Fairy Kei. pan048, pan016, pan034, and a few others could make great Fairy Kei skirts, obviously if you wore them over something like leggings or opaque tights. On the note of skirts that are too short for Lolita, L404 would work well for Fairy Kei, and of course they have some wigs that would work very nicely too.

You all probably know about fairy kei, but did you know there’s a new fairy kei community? All the old Livejournal’s are long gone, so I created a new one and with the help of wonderful people, it has become super cute! So I hope if you have an interest in fairy kei or have a kawaii-lifestyle, you’ll check it out! Fairy Kei Forums

What's the difference between OTT and fairy kei? And if you wore a pastel tee with a skirt which one would it be more of?

Fairy Kei is much more casual while Lolita has more specific guidelines. A t-shirt and a skirt would be more along the lines of Fairy Kei because t-shirts are pretty casual. While Lolita has to have the skirt a certain length and has to have the proper shape and everything, Fairy Kei is more defined by the use of accessories and themes.

do you think its possible to mix fairy kei and lolita?

Yes, and it is done quite often. A lot of OTT Sweet coords actually take inspiration from elements of Fairy Kei.

would bodyline colorful panniers be good for fairy kei? Do you know if they are lined?

They would work quite nicely for Fairy Kei I think, but I do not believe they’re lined so I would recommend wearing something under them, shorts, bloomers, something like that.

What are the differences between sweet lolita and fairy kei?

Sweet Lolita follows the basic Lolita aesthetics. It requires the proper skirt length and shape, an overall modesty, etc. Fairy Kei has fewer restrictions. Skirts can be shorter, don’t have to have a specific shape, and it can be said to be a bit more eclectic. Sweet Lolita can also have more color schemes such as black, red, dark blue, ivory, etc. where Fairy Kei is more based on pastels.

Do you know places someone who is also into Fairy Kei can ask for tips?

Yes, there is actually a blog that is the Fairy Kei equivalent to my blog.

Can you give any Fairy-Kei tips? I know this is a lolita blog, but since Fairy-Kei is lolita-like, I thought I'd ask.

Fairy Kei and Lolita actually aren’t all that alike in a lot of aspects if you ask me. That being said, I think Fairy Tips would be a better place for you to go.
